LASER HAIR REMOVAL

LightSheer® DUETTM - Permanent Hair Reduction

You may be surprised to learn that your entire body is virtually covered with hair. Because most of this hair is fine and pale, it usually isn't visible to the naked eye. But, when darker, coarser hair appears in places which may make you uncomfortable - like on the face, neck, abdomen, breast, legs or underarms in women or on the shoulders, chest and back in men, it may be time to consider hair removal with the LightSheer Diode Laser System.

How Does the LightSheer Hair Removal System Work?

We offer two hair removal laser systems that enable clinicians to optimize permanent hair reduction anywhere on the body.

One is the LightSheer Diode System, which is ideal for smaller or bony areas such as the upper lip, chin, or around the ankles. The performance of this system is well documented and clinically validated, satisfying customers worldwide with over 6,000 LightSheer systems installed worldwide.

The second is the NEW LightSheer HS (High Speed hand-piece) that features a large 22x35 mm diode array that is designed for treating large areas such as legs, arms, chests, abdomen, shoulders and back. The LightSheer HS employs fully integrated vacuum assist technology to gently lift skin into the treatment aperture prior to applying laser energy.

With this approach, the targeted tissue is gently stretched and thinned, minimizing competing skin cells by blanching vessels and spreading skin pigmentation over a larger area, in addition to pulling the hair follicle closer to the skin's surface (view video). The cumulative result is that energy is delivered more efficiently to achieve excellent clinical results with speed and comfort. These combined features allow clinicians to treat large areas easily and quickly, leading to a significant reduction in treatment time and with minimum discomfort to the patient.

Both lasers produce a beam of highly concentrated light. The light from the laser is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) that is located in the hair shaft (melanin - gives hair its color). The laser pulses for a fraction of a second; just long enough to vaporize the pigment in the hair but not long enough to damage the surrounding skin. This process damages several hair follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's re-growth. The technology built into the two systems enables clinicians to treat a broad range of skin types safely and effectively.

What You Can Expect

With the LightSheer HS, treatments will last an average of 15 minutes. It is important to know that the hairs in an active growth phase (referred to as anagen) are the most affected by the laser. As all hairs are not in this phase at the same time, more than one treatment will be necessary to achieve the best result.

The laser treatment itself may cause some discomfort. Most patients tolerate the procedure well, but because some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, topical anesthesia can be an option.

The appearance of the treated area immediately following treatment will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of the procedure and skin type. Side effects, if any, are minor. They may include redness and swelling around the hair follicle, which are, in fact, desired clinical results and indicate that the follicle has responded to the treatment. Most people return to normal activity right away. We will be happy to tell you more about your treatment, possible side effects and what results you can expect during your personal consultation.
